The Industrial House- Exterior, Docklands

Oct 15
2 min read

Standing on the waterfront at London’s Royal Docks, The Industrial House is a striking Grade II-listed industrial landmark built in 1914 to serve the working docks. Its imposing red-brick façade and towering windows preserve the scale and character of its maritime past, giving the building a distinctive presence against the surrounding water and open docklands landscape. The wider site includes three complementary areas- the main industrial interior, an outdoor waterfront space and this exterior itself- which can be hired separately or brought together through exclusive hire of the full venue, accommodating up to 700 standing guests.

The Exterior offers a strong architectural backdrop, with the building’s substantial brickwork, repeated window forms and monumental proportions creating a sense of scale and visual drama. Its weathered industrial character feels authentic rather than constructed, making it particularly well suited to film and television locations, fashion editorials, music videos and commercial campaigns seeking a raw, cinematic setting. Positioned directly beside the docks, the building can be framed against open water, bridges and the broad horizons of East London, providing a varied visual environment for exterior scenes and location photography.

Royal Albert DLR is nearby, with the Elizabeth Line within walking distance, and the surrounding docklands landscape offers further opportunities for exterior filming and wider location work. The façade can also form part of a larger event or production using the interior and outdoor areas, allowing several distinct environments to be accessed from one site. For projects that need architectural character, waterfront atmosphere and room to build a complete visual world, The Industrial House offers an unusually versatile location.
